Improvement of efficiency and stability of wheat transformation with viral PTGS suppressors

Wheat is a recalcitrant plant not only in tissue culture but also in transformation. We are investigating the influence of several viral genes on transgene expression when cotransferred with the gfp-gene. In transient expression, a clear prolongation of gfp-expression was visible. Our present research aims to elucidate the effect of the viral genes on stable transformants. This project is supported by the DFG.
