Head: Dr. Benjamin Gilfedder

The Limnological Research Station is focused on the coupling between abiotic and biotic processes in natural and anthrophgenic aquatic and semiaquatic environments. We primarily do research on groundwater-surface water interactions coupled with biogeochemical cycling of carbon, nitrogen, iron, sulfur and trace elements (e.g. iodine and bromine). The Limnological Research Station is part of the Department of Hydrology, member of the BayCEER (Bayreuth Center of Ecology and Environmental Research), and is in close collaboration with other departments related to geosciences, biology and environmental chemistry
